Many plants which grow around human dwellings is edible. It is unfortunate that we label them as "weeds" and ignore their tremendous potential as food and medicine (let_food_be_thy_medicine). Keep an eye out for all the growing things around where you live! Their flowers, their fruits, their leaves are most likely edible or beneficial in some way.

There is a website called http://www.eattheweeds.com/ where the Green Deane writes about various edible plants, with identification information and other relevant info. There is also YouTube channel with same name. It is fun.

Below we list some nice edible plants (we may need to divide the list based on climate later) :

-- Purslane

It is a common "weed" in many parts of the world. The leaves are succulent and tasty. See http://tropical.theferns.info/viewtropical.php?id=Portulaca+oleracea for how nutritious and good this plant is. In the picture above, it is growing in a crack with barely any soil.

-- Stinging Nettle [todo, add description soon]
